Kickoff hockey season with the true story of the Preston Rivulettes, the most successful women’s hockey team in the history of Canadian sports. Set in the 1930s, the play focuses on two sets of sisters and their stories. We’d love to hear from you and encourage you to submit an application! We’re looking for committee members to join us in Hockey Operations, Business Operations, and Finance Management; we’re also looking for a Board Chair and Board Secretary. Sound like you? Meet Key, Brie, and Vic: the trio behind the Prair Meet Key, Brie, and Vic: the trio behind the Prairie Pride Hockey League! 🌾🌈🏒 Inspired by the PWHL Winnipeg takeover game in March and the lack of a dedicated queer league in the city, the three of us figured, “How hard could it be?” and now …. here we are! As avid hockey fans (and player, in Vic’s case), we’re beyond excited to be here, it’s been wonderful to meet so many interested people and organizations!!!! our plan. 1. March/April: Concept formation and resource gathering. 2. May: Developing foundations and branding. 3. June: Community and business outreach. 4. July: Increase capacity, develop a Working Board, announce our pilot event. 5. Fall: Host pilot event, establish strong business, finance and hockey operations. We can only go up from here!
Our goals. Short Term Goals (within the year): Develop relationships with community. Develop a working Board of Directors. Gain a volunteer list. Host our pilot event. Develop partnerships and sponsorships. Gain a member list. Long Term Goals (2-5 years): Prioritize new short term goals. Host shinnies. Develop the league into teams. Develop a rental equipment collection. Host skating and skill lessons. Monitor and evaluate org progress.
Our needs. The Prairie Pride Hockey League cannot operate without the support of our community. To help us get going, here are some items you and/or your organization can do to help us: Follow our social media and give us a shoutout. Tell your friends, family, and coworkers about us. Help advertise us at your business (email for info). Let us know if your business wants to sponsor or partner with us. Sign up to volunteer with us (through our contact form).
